Businesses operating in Zambia are typically required to obtain one or more licenses and permits, depending on the activities of their enterprise.

How to identify relevant licenses

Select your jurisdiction (e.g. National, X capital city, Municipalities or Town councils.) followed by the industry in which your business operates – this will then display a list of business types

Once you have selected the relevant Business Type, the web site will display a list of Business Activities commonly associated with this line of business. Ticking the boxes next to the relevant Business Activities then provide you with the various licenses and permits you will need to obtain.

Jurisdiction

This is a set of locations in which a paticular license is obtainable. There are four Jurisdictions in this portal: National, X capital city, Municipalities and Town councils.

National

These are licenses which are required nationally.

X Capital City

These are licenses which are required for X Capital City.

Municipalities

These are licenses which are required for any Municipality within Zambia. below is a list of all Municipalities within Zambia.

Town Council

These are licenses which are required for any Town Council within Zambia. below is a list of all Town Councils within Zambia.
